competition: win tickets to yuck in london

when tickets for yuck went on sale a couple of months ago, i snapped them straight up. they sold out shortly afterwards. i haven’t seen them since field day in 2010 and can’t wait to see them again. unfortunately, due to a slight scheduling mishap, i will have to wait a little longer. i can’t make the 24th in camden now so i’m going to give my tickets to a lucky reader. it could be you. all you have to do is either of the following. and yes, this is a thinly veiled attempt to gain more followers.

to win
when I reviewed their amazing debut album at the start of the year i referred to how fantastic it is to have an album influenced by one of my favourite bands (sonic youth), made by members of one of my favourite bands (cajun dance party). what two, or more, bands would you like to see a collab album from? there are a couple of examples in the original review. you can either tell me on twitter by @ing me here with the hashtag #yucksock or you can post it on the facebook wall here. or both to double your chances. i’ll then stick all your names in a metaphorical hat and pick a random winner.

the small print
the gig is at the electric ballroom in camden on thursday 24th november and probably starts about 8.
you can enter once on each site. feel free to do more, but you’ll only get your name in the hat twice.
entries close sunday 20th at 9pm to give me a chance to get your address stick them in the post.
you’ll need to follow me if entering by twitter so i can dm you to let you know you’ve won.
you’ll need to ‘like’ the facebook page if you want to enter on there or you won’t be able to post.
if you win, don’t sell them on please.

that text on the picture above is a sneak peak of a possible new design by the way. it may even include capital letters at times. what have i become.

this might be my first post in over a week, but it is another chance to win festival tickets. that’s got to be a good thing. this time it is the one that’s closest the my parents’ new home, latitude. there are loads of acts on. of course there are. it’s a fucking festival. the load of acts only bloody includes suede though doesn’t it. get on it as soon as possible people. further down the line up you’ll see kele, bombay bicycle club, foals, lykke li, cats eyes, ghostpoet and mother fucking amazing eels. here’s the official bit.

Swiftcover have 2 pairs of weekend camping tickets to giveaway for Latitude festival. For your chance to win simply upload a photo of your wet weather gear, and tell us how you plan to stay dry if the rain tried to spoil your fun. You can be as creative as you like! If you haven’t already, don’t forget to ‘like’ the page so we can tell you if you’ve won. Good luck!

got that? good. you’ll need to know where to click to though won’t you. i can help you with that as well. click here to win tickets to the festival up the road from my mum and dad. super stuff.

fancy going to the brilliant isle of wight festival? of course you do. you’ll get to see pulp, we are scientists, cast, wild beasts and two door cinema club among others. plus the headliners of festival go-to band kings of leon, foo fighters and kasabian. you’ll also get the chance to avoid the courteeners, beady eye and brother. or even see them if they’re your thing.

to enter, please read the following official blurb.

swiftcover have 2 pairs of weekend camping tickets to give away for the isle of wight festival. for your chance to win simply head on over to roadology, their facebook page, and upload a photo of the craziest item you’d take with you to be in with a chance of winning. don’t forget to ‘like’ the page or you’ll never know if you’ve won!

i’m not entering because i can never be that crazy. if you think you could be classed as medically insane though you better get going. the competition closes at 11.59pm tomorrow.

who wants to win tickets to bestival? luckily for you those kind folk at gaymers have some to give away. they love a festival that lot don’t they? every festival i go to at the moment they seem to be there. coming up, apparently they’re going to be at big chill, leeds and (of course) bestival with their ‘lost in the orchard’ tent.

anyway, you can win tickets to bestival by following this link (click on these very words) and doing well in the quiz. good luck. unless it comes to a straight fight between you and me. if it does, i wish you no luck whatsoever.

in case you can’t remember who is playing (or can’t be arsed to click the link) you can expect to see the flaming lips, hot chip, the prodigy, lcd soundsystem, flying lotus, new young pony club and mount kimbie among others.

i’ve seen your hope on television

i don’t pretend to know loads about politics, but i do know that i like this and it is well political. broken social scene are one of my all time favourites anyway, and the video for ‘meet me in the basement’ fits their style of music to a tee. it is a response to the g20 summit in toronto apparently so full of guns, oil, police and some weird dancing things. i especially like the weird dancing things. oh, and it has top gun clips in int!

in fact, i have two copies of the broken social scene back-catalogue classic, ‘you forgot it in people’ in my collection for some reason. the first person the enlighten me as to what the weird dancing things are can have one of them. email or comment the answer.
