video: marina and the diamonds. radioactive

do you remember about a fortnight ago when i posted a video from marina and the diamonds and it was just part one? if not, you can read it here. anyway, we now have part two. it has marina don a blonde wig, grab a chainsaw and put on a mask. it’s all a bit natural born killers meets breakfast at tiffany’s. i like it. i still don’t get why it’s two parts though.

there aren’t many bands that are better to listen to on a sunday morning than howling bells. here’s the video to the next single and it’s the sort of dreamy seventies styled visual and sound that you’d expect. it precedes the new album which is out september 12 and can be pre-ordered here.

video: marina and the diamonds. fear and loathing

anybody who reads this blog will know that i very rarely read press releases and the such properly. i’m more of a skimmer. that’s why i have no idea why this is subtitled part one. i think i remember that it’s something about releasing a couple of tracks pre-new album and that they both link. or something. anyway, i love marina and i like this. it’s still no ‘obsessions‘ which is still so amazing it is one of these times when i’m tempted to actually use capital letters on here. i have once again resisted. i for one am looking forward to the new album and i hope that she doesn’t make the mistake of using only bad song on it as the lead single as she did with her debut. yes ‘hollywood’, i’m looking at you.

i once spent an evening sitting on my kitchen work surface when i washed the floor of my old flat in bethnal green and didn’t plan it out very well. ghostpoet goes one better than that and manages to paint himself into a corner for the video of ‘liiines’. he also falls asleep on the floor and shows that he’s damn good at throwing bits of paper into the bin at various other times in the video.

age of consent have come from the remains of shitdisco. we’re talking darker and more interesting output these days. their debut single isn’t out until the middle of next month, but they’ve gone and put together a video for it already. it works. i like it. they’re playing silver bullet in finsbury park tomorrow and nest in dalston next week. i might even see you there.

mp3: the bullitts. run & hide

i had no idea who the bullitts were before they dropped into my inbox yesterday. i still don’t really know in fact. they have put together an album that chronicles the life of a murderer called amelia sparks. but the album isn’t called the diary of amelia sparks. that’s the accompanying film. the album is called they die by dawn and other short stories. or something. i’m confused. also, who’s amelia sparks? it’s either elisa lasowski (the french waitress in somers time) or lucy liu. idris elba comes into it somewhere as well.

i’ve worked out one thing though. this track, featuring jay electronica, is pretty fucking wonderful. there is also a video (with elisa lasowski) that goes with it. you can see it here. apparently tori amos and mos def feature on some of the other tracks. that’s good isn’t.

video: hero and leander. the thought of your mind in motion puts me to sleep

i wrote about hero and leander some time ago. they have recorded what i believe to be their first video proper. basically it involved going around dalston and filming people sleeping. both the long winded title of the track and the tuneful indie pop that within it are reminiscent of los campesinos! being a massive fan of the welsh group myself, this is a very good thing. i get the feeling there is a lot more to come from this band and i will enjoy watching (and hearing) it unfold. you can download a few of their tracks for free on their official site, but i’ve made that even easier for you by including my favourite, ‘one three four’, below.

video: wild beasts. bed of nails

i’m back online at home so posts should start to come thick and fast (ie, one a day or so. let’s not get over excited) again. unfortunately i’ve spent most of this evening installing lion os x and sorting out my inbox. i still don’t know why lion is so good but i’ve done it anyway. as for the inbox, this is great news. i’ve got all pretty colours and shit going on so should be a bit better at responding now. it’s filter and label overload heaven. i’ve also updated my gigs graphic to the right which means nothing to anybody. i’m anal about stuff like that though. mentioning it does link nicely to the new wild beasts video though. my next gig is field day you see and they are playing perfect. perfect like this track in fact. remind me again how they didn’t get nominated for a mercury. ridiculous.

you know how i love tyler, right? not as much as emma loves tyler, but i do love him. he was great performing with one leg earlier this month in camden and i still fucking love his album. i’ve also always loved a bit of clipse, so it’s good to see him link up with pusha t for this. i’m pleased he is taking care of that leg and cruising around on an electric chair while causes trouble as well.
