Video(s): Twin Shadow. Five Seconds; Slow Club. Beginners; Summer Camp. Always

There have been three excellent videos come out in the last couple of days, so thought I may as well put them all in the same post. I really should start some sort of weekly video post in fact if I’m going to keep posting loads. Anyway, first up is ‘Five Seconds’ by Twin Shadow. This was a free download last month and it’s great to see it get the video treatment. Not only is the song great, but the video is something special too. Apparently the story within is based on a book that George Lewis Jnr has written himself. Fancy. It also makes me ridiculously excited for his new album next month.

Next is ‘Beginners’ by Slow Club. It features Harry Potter wandering about The Faltering Fullback. If you’re ever in the area you should go to The Faltering Fullback. Great pub. It’s just a short walk from Finsbury Park station and not far from my house so you can pop round for a cup of tea afterwards. In related news, I played against Charles from Slow Club in a 5-a-side tournament on Saturday. he’s a pretty handy keeper.

Finally we have Summer Camp’s ‘Always’ from the forthcoming EP of the same name. It’s directed by Ollie Evans again and this time they’re just doing a quick bit of kidnapping and murdering in a camper van. As you do. Time for a bit of crazy golf as well. One thing though, they seem to have forgotten to ask me to be in it this time for some reason.

What a way to celebrate an extra day off work. New music from Twin Shadow. ‘Five Seconds’ incorporates that familiar voice around a rampant eighties beat and gives me hope that the new album Confess will live up to the high standards set by 2010′s fantatsic Forget. To get your free mp3 you need to sign up to his newsletter, but why wouldn’t you want to be the first to hear from him anyway?

despite the fact that it takes away from the live tweet review, i feel i should add some more to this. i struggled with 3g and there is plenty more i could have said. i didn’t even mention wild beasts. excellent of course. i was really looking forward to seeing twin shadow and he didn’t disappoint. i missed about group which was a shame. i needed a beer though. decided on warpaint instead of the horrors in the end as i’ve seen the horrors precisely 502 times before. just imagine those in tweets and we’ll all get along fine.

i guess i could have a moan about the queuing everywhere. it was the worst field day i’ve ever been to for that. i won’t moan though because there is something i love about field day and i’ll still be back next year.

preview: field day

at last year’s field day i debuted my live tweeting reviews. it wasn’t perfect by any means, and i’ve improved it since, but thank you field day 2010 for starting me on this. this probably wasn’t particularly original, but it made my life very easy indeed so expect the same sort of thing again on monday.

as a bit of a preview to tomorrow’s field day i’ve put together a playlist of those acts i’m planning on seeing. i’ve used a clash guide, which i imagine has been put together through a lot of guess work so it may be impossible. some already overlap anyway and i haven’t accounted for food. or, more pressingly, getting drunk and losing my glasses. it’s nice to go with a plan though isn’t it. also, the chances of me being there by pearson sound are pretty much non existent. my aim is ducktails to start really and if i can only see one act all day it will be twin shadow. i don’t know why i would only get to see one act though.

you can listen to the playlist right here.
